Topeka Beauty Professionals Give Back Through Community Events
Salons and stylists across Topeka are organizing free haircut days and beauty services for those in need.
Beauty professionals across Topeka are increasingly giving back to their communities, organizing free haircut days, makeover events, and services for people facing hardship or preparing for job interviews.
Volunteer stylists offer cuts and grooming to people experiencing homelessness, cancer patients, and others who might not otherwise afford or access services. Organizers say a fresh haircut or a moment of pampering can restore dignity and confidence at a difficult time.
"A haircut can change how someone walks into a room, and how they feel about themselves," one participating stylist said. The events often coincide with back-to-school drives or holiday charity efforts.
Salon owners say the volunteer work strengthens ties to the community and reminds professionals of the personal impact their craft can have beyond the chair.
