A manufacturer with deep roots in Topeka announced plans to expand its plant and add a new production line, an investment that company leaders attributed to strong demand and a reliable local workforce.
The expansion will increase the plant's footprint and is expected to add manufacturing jobs over the next two years. State and local officials, who assembled an incentive package, hailed the decision as a vote of confidence in the capital city's industrial base.
"When a company that has been here for generations decides to grow rather than move, that says something," a local economic development official said. The firm produces goods sold across North America.
Executives said continued access to trained workers will determine how quickly the expansion ramps up, and the company plans to partner with area technical colleges.
