Kansas exports held steady in the latest trade figures, buoyed by the state's twin strengths in aircraft manufacturing and agriculture, along with a healthy trade in industrial machinery.
Aircraft and aircraft parts remain among the state's most valuable exports, reflecting Wichita's role as a global aviation center. Wheat, sorghum, beef, and other farm goods also feature heavily, shipping to markets across the Americas and Asia.
"Kansas punches above its weight in global trade because it makes things the world wants," a trade official said. The figures underscored the state's exposure to international demand and, by extension, to shifts in tariffs and currency values.
Business groups urged policymakers to keep export markets open, warning that trade barriers could hit Kansas producers particularly hard.
