Hotel Topeka Sold to Endeavor Hotel Group

The sale of Hotel Topeka, the capital city's largest convention hotel, to Endeavor Hotel Group LLC was expected to close in mid-July, according to the Topeka Development Corporation and city officials.

The property, long a fixture near the Kansas Expocentre, has been a focus of local economic development efforts aimed at strengthening Topeka's convention and tourism business. Officials had worked for months to line up a buyer with plans to invest in the aging hotel.

New ownership is expected to pursue renovations intended to keep the hotel competitive for conventions, sporting events, and travelers passing through the capital. Boosters said a revitalized flagship hotel is essential to attracting larger events to Topeka.

The transaction reflects a broader push by city leaders to shore up the downtown and Expocentre district, which they view as central to the local hospitality economy.
